We’ll walk you through our first example, but this time with diagrams rather than code samples.įirst, consider the state of your GitHub repository after creating it online:Īs you’ll remember, we started out by cloning the GitHub repo. We’ll now give you a step-by-step visual guide of the git push command. A Picture Is Worth a Thousand Words: A Visual Explanation of git push How do these three types of branches interact with each other? What role do they play when you push and pull code around? Let’s answer that next. You can’t write to them, but Git updates them whenever you do some network communication-e.g., when you fetch from the remote. Remote-tracking branches are sort of “read-only” branches you have locally that track the status of a remote branch. Remote branches are branches that live in a remote. They’re yours, and you can do anything you want with them. Local branches are the ones you have in your local repository. Generally speaking, there are three types of branches in Git: local branches, remote branches and remote-tracking branches. The last piece of the puzzle to understand collaboration in Git are branches. That’s exactly what you did in the previous example. If you have write privileges to a remote, you can push your commits to it. Well, you can actually have remotes on your own machine, but it’s not typical. Remotes, in a nutshell, are repositories on other machines. In Git, you don’t have a central server, so how can you collaborate with others? You don’t have a central server, but you can have one or more remote repositories, or simply remotes. When it’s time to collaborate with others, you push your commits-that is, you send them over the network. Each commit object is identified by a hash, which is calculated from the information on the commit and is virtually guaranteed to be unique. In Git, committing is a local operation, which simply means “saving” changes to your local database. So, unlike Subversion and others, it doesn’t have a central server, which means there’s no central authority who can assign revision numbers to commit. Git is a decentralized version control system. This will require you to learn more about the fundamentals of network operations on Git. Now let’s go deeper into the git push command. Git Network Fundamentals: Commits, Remotes and More Get back to GitHub on your browser, press F5 and you’ll see the changes in the README file as well as the new commits now being displayed. The message makes it clear: to send your changes to the remote, run git push. If you now run git status, you should see the following result: Now, it’s time to clone the repository locally. You now have a repo on GitHub with a single commit. Just click on Create repository and you’re done. Make sure to check the option to create a README file. The name of the repo doesn’t matter, nor does the privacy configuration. If you’re not already logged into your GitHub account, the link will take you to the login page. Start by creating a new repository on GitHub. Let’s start with a minimum, practical example of git push. How Do I Push to a Remote Branch? A Minimal Example It helps you push your changes up to a remote repo. The command you’ll use in all of those scenarios is git push. Even if you’re working alone, you probably have some remote on GitHubor somewhere similar and need to get your code there, too. If you’re working with other people, you need to get your changes to them somehow. This post assumes you’re comfortable with the command line and familiar with at least the most basic Git commands. The latter is the topic of today’s tutorial. As for the former, you can check out the tutorial we already created. The main commands for that are git pull and git push. I strongly recommend getting to know git better to get the most out of it.Though most operations in Git are offline, collaborating requires syncing to at least one remote repository. Things can get messy if you don't know what you are doing. P.S.: Also, if you are new to git, be extra careful when rewriting history. Since you've tagged Azure DevOps in your question, you can avoid the merge commit using the "Squash merge" or "Rebase and fast-forward" PR merge types. If you don't want a merge commit, merging with fast-forward won't produce one, but you may need to rebase (or squash, depending on your preference) the source branch before the merge, which will change your branch history to allow a fast-forward. In a typical git workflow, your "feature branches" are short-lived, getting deleted when merged, so you won't even notice this difference. If that is the case, you can safely ignore it. This is due to how git works: depending on the steps you performed to get your code merged, it will or will not create a merge commit in the target branch. From what you've described, it seems the "one commit" is a merge commit.

4/30/2023 0 Comments Metes and bounds vs long lotsSeveral directors who have committed to supporting e-journal archiving do so because they have experienced loss. Digital preservation is a “just-in-case scenario,” commented one director, “and this is very much a just-in-time operation.” Another noted, “Archiving is the last thing that gets taken care of because it’s the farthest thing out.” One director did assert that she would not want to gamble on what it would take to obtain access later if her institution did not invest now, likening that decision to not buying a book and waiting three years to see whether there was a demand for it. Some felt the sense of urgency as a vague concern rather than as an immediate crisis, and several were willing to defer action until a crisis point is reached. These directors were all aware of digital preservation as a major concern, but they differed on whether it was a priority for support and action. Three common themes emerged in the interviews: the sense of urgency, resource commitment and competing priorities, and the need for collective response. They also revealed some interesting opinions on the topic. The interviews helped refine the issues to be covered in our survey. Technical approach ( How do we judge whether the approach is rigorous enough to meet its archiving objectives?).Library responsibilities and resource requirements ( What will this cost our library in staff time, expertise, financial commitment? Would our support save the library money?).Program viability ( What evidence is there that these efforts are sufficiently well-governed and financed to last?).Access ( What will we gain access to? When and under what conditions?).Content coverage ( Are current approaches covering the subject areas, titles, and journal components in which we are most interested?).Library motivation ( Why should we be concerned about or invest in this?).In preparing this report, our team focused on the following: Not included are preservation efforts covering digitized versions of print journals, such as JSTOR library-led digital conversion projects self-archiving efforts by publishers and initiatives still being planned. This study focuses on the “who, what, when, where, why, and how” of significant archiving programs operated by not-for-profit organizations in the domain of peer-reviewed journal literature published in digital form. Despite this, we describe in this report the current lay of the land for scholarly e-journal archiving. These factors, along with our need to rely heavily on self-reporting by the programs, mean that direct comparisons between them may not always be valid. Definitions and terms are widely interpreted, and standards are not yet established. The e-publishing terrain is changing at time-lapse photography speed. In undertaking our survey of the e-journal archiving landscape, we found that precise measurements and controlled data collection were not always possible. However, the metes and bounds system is still used when it is impossible or impractical to make more precise measurements. More accurate means of measuring were established to overcome the method’s serious shortcomings: streambeds move over time, witness trees are struck by lightning, compass needles do not point true north, and measuring chains and surveyor strides can be of slightly differing lengths. states were laid out by metes and bounds. This was accepted practice before more precise instruments and methods were developed-indeed, the original 13 U.S. A survey “by metes and bounds” is a highly descriptive delineation of a plot of land that relies on natural landmarks, such as trees, bodies of water, and large stones, and often-crude measurements of distance and direction. 4/30/2023 0 Comments Heroes of might and magic v steamHowever according gpu database gtx 660 non ti still have more hardware I mean Steam Deck is better than your old gt圆60. integrated GPUs) that are good enough to play newer games. They plan to go further, with a future update planned to upgrade their SIMD to SSE4.1 that will "allow higher performance in physics, particles, and general gameplay code" which shouldn't really affect many people, as they said nearly all "processors released in the past 10 years support SSE4.1". No matter how good your tab organization game is, if your computer’s RAM is being taxed, you won’t be able to work as efficiently as you could. Worry not, because Workona Tab Suspender provides an even better replacement. The Great Suspender used to do a wonderful job suspending tabs, but the extension was pulled off the Chrome Web Store following malware complaints by users. The Workona Tab Suspender allows you to suspend the tabs that aren’t currently open, saving your CPU from unneeded overload. Workona Tab SuspenderĪlthough they are built by the same team, Workona Tab Suspender is totally different from Workona. This greatly helps save memory and generally reduces CPU strain when your computer is already suffering from tab overload. A workspace can be handy if you’re working on different projects, making it easier to work on a single project at a time.Īnother feature that makes Workona a worthwhile tab organizer is the ability to suspend tabs directly from the extension’s homepage. Workona lets you group your tabs that serve the same purpose into a set, usually called a workspace. While the names of the core features are somewhat different, they perform pretty much the same task. The extension is quite similar to Toby, except it’s built around workspaces and not collections. Workona is your go-to Chrome extension should you need to supercharge your productivity. You can easily add or remove tabs from a collection to make it even more efficient and specific. In addition, the tabs that are listed on a collection aren’t etched in stone. You can now work on your newly created project without interruption from other unrelated tabs. To resume that specific project, simply hover over the collection, click Open, and all the tabs will open in a new window. You can make a collection and include all the tabs related to that project (such as Canva, Photoshop, and Figma). Let’s take the scenario where you want to complete a design project. Toby makes it simple to handle projects and task-oriented activities by letting you open all the tabs that belong to one collection at once. Drag and drop the listed tabs into the collection you’ve just created. Toby will automatically detect the open tabs and will list them on the right side of the window. Click the button that says, “ADD COLLECTION.”.Launch the Toby extension and open the sites you want to add to a collection. Speaking of collections, here’s how to create a collection in Toby. As a result, you don’t have to keep navigating to the search bar and typing in the site’s name every time you want to visit it. This makes accessing your frequently visited sites easy because all you have to do is open the collection and click the site you’d like to visit. For instance, you can place all of your social media sites into one collection and your work-related websites into another. You can think of collections as an organized version of bookmarks.Īn excellent way to use the feature is by grouping related sites under a single collection. One feature that makes Toby a great pick is the ability to group your favorite tabs into collections. Toby is more than just a tab organizer because it helps you manage your workflows when working online. The data you share with the extension isn’t available to its developers, making it a trustworthy choice. Many Chrome extensions are known to infringe on user privacy. The automated classification is applied through a spreadsheet application that classifies GPS data and identifies, accordingly, durations of different activities in each cycle using spatial coordinates and directions captured by GPS and recorded on its receiver. This was carried out by automated classification, data fitting, and computer simulation. The variations in the captured cycle times were used to model the uncertainty associated with the operation involved. A GPS device is mounted on a hauling unit to capture the spatial data along designated hauling roads for the project. The developed method utilizes Global Positioning System (GPS) and Google Earth to extract the data needed to perform the estimation process. This paper presents an automated method for estimating productivity of earthmoving operations in near-real-time. The study also includes a sensitivity analysis for the resources acquired in tunnelling operations. A regression model is developed to generate a formula to predict the productivity (advance rate) based on consumption bits. Productivity is calculated as 0.44 lm/hr for the Road-header used in Henri-Bourassa direction against 0.48 (actual) while it is 0.64 lm/hr for the Road-header used in Cartier direction against 0.7 (actual). The results show that the predicted productivity by both simulation models gives close results to the actual. The collected data represent actual time duration for the tunnelling operations (drilling, changing bits, maintenance, scaling, and wire mesh installation) of each Road-header. Two Road-headers are used to excavate 1.2 km tunnelling project starting Henri-Bourassa Station to Cartier station in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. This paper presents a simulation model for estimating a (Voest-Alpine) Road-header productivity using both MicroCYCLONE and EZSROPE Software. It will assist decision makers to predict productivity and to control time, cost, and resources. Simulation can be used to study tunnelling operations using Road-headers before they are actually performed. Accurate and reliable productivity prediction for the selected machinery is required for time and resource scheduling, and hence estimating the budget of any tunnelling project. It can excavate smoothly various sizes, shapes, and types of tunnel openings. Road-header is flexible, very mobile, safe, and environmentally friendly machinery. Mechanical excavation of tunnels using Road-header is getting widespread and popular due to their capability of excavating precisely soft to medium strength rock without weakening the surrounding rock. Simulation results indicate an improvement in the productivity rate combined with the unit cost savings using yard truck double cycling comparing to the standard single cycle operation. Simulation is used to test the efficiency of the proposed strategy. The strategy is based on combining the efforts of two quay cranes (loading and unloading) to work as a unit. This double-cycling strategy still requires the use a single-cycle one before the trucks can be incorporated into double-cycle scheduling. A handling container strategy is introduced by employing double cycling to reduce the empty travel trips of yard trucks. The objective of this research is to maximize container terminal productivity by minimizing vessel turnaround time within reasonable expenses. Minimizing the empty journeys of yard trucks could improve container terminal efficiency with reasonable time and cost investment. Much research has been done on improving container terminal efficiency as a means to reduce vessel turnaround time however, room still available for improvement. This time reduction can be achieved by improving one or more container terminal major resources. In port container terminals, reducing vessel turnaround time improves the terminal productivity and increases the capacity of world trades across the globe. 4/29/2023 0 Comments Pin duo duoFind related and similar companies as well as employees.
